Pulleys By Heidi and Constance

A pulley is a wheel with a groove. A
rope fits in the groove. For an example, a flag is pulley. The groove helps keep the rope or chain stay in place. As you pull the rope, the wheel turns. Using
a pulley you can pull very heavy objects and it seems easier.
A single fixed pulley is attached to an object. This type of pulley
changes direction a load moves. Movable pulleys are attached
to the load instead of another object. Movable pulleys make
lifting things easier. Movable pulleys are often used with fixed pulleys.
Cranes use fixed pulleys  and movable pulleys to lift heavy loads.

  1. Dear Heidi and Constance,
Great job on explaining the use of pulleys. It's great to see that by your explanation and examples, you are truly understanding what you have been taught.
    Keep up the great work!!
